Traditional Buildings and PAS 2035

Over one-third of UK buildings are traditional according to the definition of a traditional building defined in BSI PAS 2035: 2019: Specification for the energy retrofit of domestic buildings. These buildings are different from modern buildings and need to be treated differently.

The retrofitting of energy-efficient measures within these kinds of properties requires a level of expertise and knowledge not specifically offered in more general qualifications such as those for PAS 2035, Retrofit Coordinator, and Retrofit Assessor.

Why take Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings training with Stroma?

PAS 2035 requires measures to be assessed and coordinated by suitably competent people. The Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings online training is recommended to all professionals working within this sector, especially those working under the PAS 2035 standard.

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with the NOCN Level 3 Award for Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings (QCF). This is a Government approved qualification and has been developed to suit contractors and consultants, as well as clients.

This qualification provides individuals with the recognition that they have achieved an independently recognised level of knowledge. If you are involved in Government or energy provider (ECO) funded retrofit, you may be required to hold the NOCN Level 3 Award for Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings (QCF) qualification.

The UK standard retrofit specification ‘PAS 2035: Specification for retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency’ makes this a requirement for Retrofit Assessors, although many individuals in other roles such as Retrofit Co-ordinators and Retrofit Designers have also undertaken the course and achieved the qualification to improve their knowledge and demonstrate to others their expertise in retrofitting traditional buildings.
